Deleting your Elvo account

This page describes how to have your account in the Elvo app and on elvo.is deleted, what is removed, and what has to be kept.

It applies to accounts of staff at businesses that use Elvo. If you are a customer of such a business and want your messages deleted, address that request to the business you contacted; the section at the end explains why.

How to request deletion

Send an email to privacy@elvo.is from the email address your account is registered with, stating that you want your account deleted. That one email is the whole process; nothing else is needed.

We confirm receipt, verify that the request comes from the account owner, and complete the deletion within 30 days. You receive a confirmation when it is done.

If you are the last administrator of your organisation, deleting your account would leave your colleagues' workspace without an owner, so we will ask the business how it wants to proceed before acting.

What is deleted

  • Your account: name, email address, password and profile settings
  • Your notification devices and their push tokens, on the web and in the mobile apps
  • Your personal preferences, views and drafts

Uninstalling the app does not by itself delete your account; the account also exists on the web. Deleting the account removes it everywhere.

What is kept, and why

  • Messages you wrote in your organisation's conversations with its customers remain, because they are part of the business's own customer records, which the business controls. Your name on them is replaced where the business requests it.
  • Invoices and billing records that mention you are kept for as long as accounting law requires.
  • Security logs are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted.

If you are a customer of a business that uses Elvo

The conversations you have had with a business belong to that business, and Elvo processes them only on its instructions. Ask the business to delete your data; it can do so in Elvo or instruct us to. This split is set by the General Data Protection Regulation, which makes the business the controller of that data and Elvo its processor.

More detail on all of this is in the privacy policy.
